: : If you have an EMPI you will find the logo
: : formed into the fiberglass at the front, center
: : of the mold. You need to remove the hood piece
: : to see it.
: Every Imp I've ever seen has had this emblem, so it's a good way of verifying whether you have an Imp.

: : The tachometer would be moulded in the hood.
: The tachometer hood mount was introduced with the 1970 models,

:: the 70 models also had a empi emblem embossed in the front license plate area. split rear seats and a full length dash

so the '60s Imps did not have it. So this can not be used to tell if it's an Imp.

: : If its the complete kit it would have an engine
: : cover and "flats just inside the front fenders". But remember that the Imp was available in many different kits, ranging from the basic body kit to the rather thorough Grand Sport kits. My '70 was one of the basic kits. It came with the body, the hood/dash, windshield, the rollbar, turnsignals, and the chrome taillight housings. It was also a standard gelcoat yellow, not the popular metalflake that a lot of them were.

the Imps had Peaked front fenders and depending on the level of the kit it might have a empi ID plate behind the drivers seats on the fiberglass coming from the backseat.

: If you're still not sure, send me a few pictures of your buggy and I'll try to confirm if it's an Imp from them. Use the email address above.

: Tom
