: I have an impi Emp and am ready to mount a set of poly seats with sliders. The previous seats were mounted using the old VW frame--about 4-5" off the pan. What seat height are you guys using--just bolted to a frame on the pan (as low as it will go) or build a frame like the original I pulled out? I haven't built my roll bar yet, so am not restricted for height...yet..

Gary, that will depend on what you want.....are you tall or average height? Try a mock up install to see where your comfortable seating position is. The Imp dash brace setup puts the steeting wheel a few inches lower than a stock bug and in my case it hits my knees. I am going to go with a custom seat mount for that and other reasons - my Imp will be an offroader, and I am going to have a 3" body lift perimeter frame so I will be using tubes going from that frame to the tunnel as seat mounts and I will be able to put them at the height where I want them.
If you use stock seat tracks you will be sitting up there fairly high. You might find your eyes looking straight thru the windshield near the top to see the road. If you decide on a custom mount setup, you might be able to use scrap wood pieces to adjust up/down height to get the best feel for where you want the seat to sit.
Hope this helps.
