Welcome to the wonderful world of the pinhead insurance underwriter. It seems an 18 year old single kid can get his CBR 1100cc 190MPH Deathrocket motorcycle insured with no problem at all but the same insurance agent will not touch a much slower/safer/law abiding owners buggy vehicle for a number of bogus reasons. I don't know NJ insurance, but you may have to go with a specialty carrier, a company that writes policies for special stuff like your buggy. Also, there are sleezy fly-by-night insurance companies everywhere that write policies for everything as long as you give them $$$, so that also may be a way to go. Here in California, a lot of the buggy's are driving around titled as "beetles" if you know what I mean. I won't do that, but it sure makes you wonder why anyone would pay for an insurance policy and gamble they would never have to file a claim. Good luck, finding insurance for a decent price from a reputable insurance company for a street legal buggy is a very common problem.
