VW Type 4 Picture
Gallery
This page will feature pictures of the
stock Type 4, both restored ones, all original cars and early dealer/factory
photos.

I got the next three pictures from a book
called the Volkswagen Buyer's Guide from Classic Motorbooks. This is a four
door sedan 411. It appears to be an original dealer picture. You'll notice the
Type 4s used the same 4-lug wheels as the late Bugs, Ghias, Type 3s and
914s. |
 |
From the same book, we see the rear
three-quarter view of an 411. You can make out the headrests for the front
seats from this angle. You'll notice the horizontal taillights, contrasting
with the vertical taillights of the Buses and Type 3s, making these a Type 4
only. |
 |
Here we have a 1974 412 two door station
wagen. Notice the different headlight arrangement versus the earlier 411. The
front had a more of a point, with a wedge type feel. Like the Super Beetles of
this era, the Type 4 series also had a tendency to ride high in the front. It
has been said they were that way from the dealer showroom. I guess they wanted
enough spring tension so you could load the trunk. |
 |
This 1974 412 belongs to Kevin Jeffreys. He
rescued the car from a junkyard and he states that it ran perfectly well. The
interior has seen better days, but that's expected from a car that's almost 25
years old. |
